Determining the Accuracy of Soil pH Value:

To determine the accuracy of the soil pH value, follow these guidelines: (1) Acidic/Slightly acidic (4-6) - This range is applicable to mixed soil, compost, and newly fertilized soil. (2) Neutral (6-7) - Natural soil falls within this range. (3) Slightly Alkaline/Alkaline (>8) - This category includes hard, solid clods ground into dirt.

Soil pH Testing: To test the soil pH, follow these steps: 1. Insert the soil tester probe into the soil. 2. Read the scale after 2-5 minutes. 3. Make sure the soil is slightly moist, not dry or overly wet.

Reasons for Soil Meter Malfunction:

If the soil meter is not working or the pointer does not move, consider the following reasons: (1) The soil being tested has a high percentage of one material (including soils with excess water). Do not test slurry soil, hard soil, plant ash, potted plants with few roots and more soil, or water plants. (2) The soil meter may have been damaged during transit.

Pointer Movement after Adding Water:

If the pointer moves back after adding water, it may be due to the looseness of the soil. When watering, pick up a soil moisture meter before watering and insert it again a few minutes later.
